If you have an idea for an Activity Group (Society) that is not currently offered by the Students' Union, you have come to the right place. The chances are that if you have an interest in an activity, there are others out there with the same interest! The Students' Union is here to help you get started, it is a very simple process and there is help every step of the way.
Use the form on the right to to begin the process by submitting your idea with some information about the group you would like to set up.
Once the form has been submitted it will be sent to our Activity Groups Coordinator. The coordinator will be in contact to arrange a meeting to discuss the idea further and talk you through the start up forms.
Complete our online form which should take no longer than 5 minutes. Our Activity Group Coordinator will start working on your membership and website page within 48 hours of the form being received. You will be sent a detailed email outlining what you need to do next as well as information on completing a Constitution, Development Plan, New Group Funding Application and a Risk Assessment. We have templates for all these so the hard work is complete. We just need you to complete the fun parts!
Once the group is appoved you will get a new group email address and a page on our website where members will be able to sign up - you will become an admin of this page so you can keep it up to date. You need a minimum of 5 paid members in your first 3 months, and then after this you must constantly maintain 10 paid members to keep your group running. Don't forget that all committee members must sign up and pay a membership too.
You’ve done it! You have now created a new Activity Group from scratch – celebrate this at your first meeting and enjoy the rest of the year – it’s going to be great!
